Nature's Salt & Mineral Mix for Goats

At Redmond Agriculture, we understand that when your animals feel good, you feel good. That’s why we offer our Goat Mineral Mix—a premium sea salt with naturally occurring essential trace minerals. This mix is also fortified with selenium (30 ppm), manganese, cobalt, copper, iodine, zinc and vitamins A, D and E. We work with nature to supply your flock the essential minerals they crave. Balance and proportion are key. Your animals do not crave the processed grain byproducts or molasses meant to entice consumption found in other products. Redmond Goat Mineral delivers minerals just as Nature intended. They love it, and you will love the results; and you don’t have to pay for fillers that your goats don’t need.

GOATS NEED MINERALS

Goats are browsers and have a reputation for nibbling on anything from your hat to the kitchen sink. However, they are much more discriminating about what they consume. Goats obtain their mineral needs from forage, feed, and sometimes water supply. Deficiencies are on the rise because feeds and forage often lack the correct quantity and spectrum of minerals goats require for optimum health. According to Mamoon Rashid, sheep and goat specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, Food, and Rural Initiatives, a free-choice supplement of loose minerals and salts will effectively help you meet the minerals demands of your herd.

YOUR GOATS WILL CRAVE IT

Redmond’s Goat Mineral Mix and licks contain a complete balance of 60+ essential natural minerals, and you will not have to coerce stubborn animals to eat it. Animals crave our delicious mineral mixes so you can rest assured that your goats are getting the nutrition you are offering them.

NO DDGS

By using salt as a mineral carrier, you can use animals’ natural cravings and biological sensors to ensure they get only what they need. The primary reason Redmond products do not contain DDGS is, they simply do not need it. Salt is the ideal carrier for our complete mineral profile because animals naturally crave and regulate their salt intake. According to Dr. Larry L. Berger Ph.D (Professor of Animal Nutrition, University of Illinois), “Salt is a natural carrier for trace minerals, since all farm animals have a natural appetite for salt. Because [of this], it can be used as a delivery mechanism to ensure adequate intake of less palatable nutrients and as a feed intake limiter.”
In contrast, DDGS products require very careful moderation to ensure livestock do not eat too much, especially for smaller animals like sheep and goats. Because DDGS is high in phosphorus and sulfur, it is important to monitor their intake. Eating too much can cause health problems, interfere with their ability to metabolize important minerals (like copper and molybdenum), and pollute their environment as they excrete excess phosphorus and sulfur.

GOAT MINERAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I USE REDMOND GOAT MINERAL?

Redmond Goat Mineral Mix’s granules are the perfect size for mixing in with rations or feeding free choice year-round.

DOES REDMOND GOAT MINERAL HAVE DDGS?

Redmond products do not contain dried distiller grains with solubles (DDGS); they simply do not need it. According to Dr. Larry L. Berger Ph.D (Professor of Animal Nutrition, University of Illinois), “Salt is a natural carrier for trace minerals, since all farm animals have a natural appetite for salt. Because [of this], it can be used as a delivery mechanism to ensure adequate intake of less palatable nutrients and as a feed intake limiter.” DDGS products require very careful moderation to ensure livestock do not eat too much, especially for smaller animals like sheep and goats. No, sheep should eat 10 Fine, Selenium 90, or specially formulated Redmond Sheep Mineral to make sure their copper levels stay within healthy limits.

WHAT FLAVORING IS USED IN REDMOND GOAT MINERAL?

We use natural anise flavoring to enhance the aroma of our goat mineral. Goats love our delicious sea minerals with or without it, but we find that the fortifications goats need come along with their own strong smell. Anise is a great, natural way to make mineral time more appealing for everyone. Plus, did you know?…a National Institute of Health study found that natural anise can reduce methane production without affecting rumen fermentation, nutrient intake, or digestive performance. The study also shows that anise “exhibits a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity”, giving your goats a tasty treat without compromising the shelf stability of your goat minerals unlike other additives and byproducts.

My goats love them!!

I wish I could send before and after pics of my goat. His coat was shaggy and very light colored. He's normally dark brown. He will not eat any other minerals. I did the mineral rock on a rope along with loose minerals. Our Billy looks so good. Within days his coat changed for the good. He was finally eating the minerals.

Saw product on YT had to try

Anne of all trades on YouTube is a great resource for learning livestock and "lazy" farming. When we saw her process on goat supplements and the beautiful condition of her animals we stopped the video and ordered instantly. SO FAR SO GOOD! the heavy 25lbs bags came in USPS box and was easy to add a sprinkle. The goats love it and don't seem to Cry for more feed all day so something is working right. It's still just the first month and breeding just start so looking forward to see how kidd season is in 5 months compared to last year! THANKS looking forward to results and reorder
